Want to improve plant Safety and increase the longevity of your Pipes, Consider gaskets!
What does a gasket do?
-
A gasket can work as a seal within a joint
-
To compensate for uneven surfaces
-
Offer shock or vibration absorption
When to use a Gasket.
The PTFE faces of our lined piping functions already as a great sealing material and the addition of a gasket can be counterproductive, but there are instances that we do recommend them:
- When joining PTFE lined piping to other equipment such as stainless steel, glass or graphite.
- When frequently removing a PTFE lined item.
In these cases, a PTFE gasket should be used and not high load multi-directional gaskets which will cut into and damage the PTFE flare face.
At CRP we offer two types of gaskets:
- ToughGask: has a perforated stainless-steel core completely encapsulated within a molded PTFE body. They are robust and are reusable, best suited to metallic flange joints.
- FluoroGask: produced from pre-compressed expanded PTFE and is FDA approved, often used within pharmaceutical plants.
