Corrosion Resistant Products has officially achieved ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management systems a major step forward in our long-term sustainability goals. Special recognition goes to Rosie Mulligan and Rick Payne, who led the development and implementation of our new environmental framework.
Why ISO 14001 Matters for Our US Customers
The chemical processing industry continues to push for higher sustainability standards across the global supply chain. As a manufacturer of PTFE and PFA lined piping systems, CRP recognizes that environmental responsibility is increasingly critical to our customers in the United States.
ISO 14001 strengthens our ability to:
- Reduce environmental impact
- Align with customer-driven sustainability requirements
- Demonstrate compliance with global regulations
- Support responsible manufacturing across all operations
Beginning the ISO 14001 Project
After achieving ISO 45001 last year, pursuing ISO 14001 was a natural next step. As sustainability expectations increased at both board and customer levels, CRP invested in specialist training and brought in a dedicated Sustainability Engineer to help develop the new Environmental Management System (EMS) alongside our Quality and Health & Safety Manager.
A key operational change involved overhauling waste management and introducing a companywide recycling system. This required training across both office and factory teams to ensure full adoption and measurable results.
How Certification Was Achieved: 10 Month Implementation Timeline
The certification journey included:
- Building a full legal register and aspects and impacts register using the Legal Update Service (LUS) platform
- Integrating hazard reporting through SHE Assure software
- Conducting a gap analysis with MAKE UK
- Completing Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits through Alcumus ISOQAR, resulting in final certification in July
Each stage enhanced clarity, compliance, and environmental governance across the business.
Environmental Improvements Already Making an Impact
CRP has been reporting carbon emissions since 2020, and the most recent year marks several significant achievements:
- Switched to 100% renewable electricity, reducing Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 65%
- Increased in house recycling rates from 5% to over 60%
- Reduced total waste output by 40%
- Lowered waste management costs by partnering with local provider Wheeldon Brothers
- Installed solar panels, EV charging, LED lighting, and energy monitoring equipment
- Achieved a 25% reduction in total energy usage
These changes align directly with customer expectations for sustainable supply chains across the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Next Steps in CRP’s Sustainability Roadmap
Building on last year’s EcoVadis Bronze medal, CRP is targeting:
- A verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for PTFE/PFA lined pipe, fittings, and spools
- Publishing our first full Sustainability & CSR Report
- Further improvements in energy, waste, and resource efficiency
This certification is a vital milestone on our path to becoming the industry’s most transparent and sustainability driven supplier of fluoropolymer lined equipment.
